Sustainable Shipping awards shortlist of nominees announced

The shortlist of nominees for the 2011 Sustainable Shipping Awards, to be held at an industry ceremony in London in July, has been revealed.

The awards, now in its third year, celebrate those companies and individuals making great strides to shape and improve the environmental legacy of shipping.

The event has been hailed by classification society Lloyds Register as a global event that provides "an opportunity to recognise the hard work, and in many cases unselfish work of a number of the entrants."

This year there are eight categories. The shortlisted nominees are as follows:

The nominations for the Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Shipping award will be released next week.

This awards is new for 2011 and Sustainable Shipping readers will decide on the winner by voting online.

This award pays tribute to an individual, organisation, company or group that has made a major contribution to raising awareness on how shipping can improve its environmental record through initiatives or other means.

The winners of the Sustainable Shipping Awards will be announced at the awards dinner on July 7 at The Radisson Blu Hotel.

An exhibition of all shortlisted award nominees and sponsors will preceed the Sustainable Shipping Awards dinner ceremony, to give all attendees the opportunity to network and meet prior to the start of the evening.
