  • Conversion from gallons to metric tons of IFO 180

    I know these are 2 different measures. I am just looking for an estimate of how many gallons would be in a metric ton of IFO 180. If you could point me to it, that would be great. I would like the same info for other types of bunker too, but this is the only one I truly need. Thanks for your help!

    In reply to your question, this is a rough calculation:

    There are 42 Gallons in 1 US Bbls
    Lets take an API OF 11.0/ 0.9924 density @ 15degC

    Use ASTM Table 13, which is the conversion factor from API > Metric Tons.

    API 11.0 = 0.15755 (using T13)

    Therefore there are 6.35 Bbls per Metric Ton

    Take 6.35 Bbls x 42 (Gal per Bbls) = 266.7 Gallons per 1 Matric Ton
