Dear Sir,
I was wondering if you could help. I am trying to find the reference for a “standard” fuel correction calculation that I have come across. The calculation takes a measured fuel consumption and corrects it for density of the reference fuel at 15degC and a standard calorific value. I have been told that this correction is a standard ISO correction although in the part of the calculation for correcting density there appears to be a constant which I cannot reference:
SG@ 15degC = A [kg/l]
Measured FO temp = B [degC]
Measured SG = A - (0.000625 x B-15) [kg/l]
It is the 0.000625 that troubles me. In addition to this problem I have heard that fuel consumption can be corrected to a base sulphur content - do you have any information on this?
I'd be very grateful for any help you can give.
Best regards
