It is certainly a novel idea but a study of the security risks of a canal versus a buried pipeline need to be addressed. A large tanker sabotaged and sunk in a canal would be a reapeat of the closure of the Suez Canal in 1967. This action coincident with a closure of the Straists of Hormuz would be as disasterous for the investors as well as the world.
