    When will the port be working normal again? I am waiting for my household things to be delivered to Cairo, I have been waiting for them since Christmas!!

    If you mean complete normalcy, then not anytime soon. Port authorities are already complaining of maximum capacity at box yards due to congestion, while last week just saw another 24 hour strike.

    The striking workers are also persisting with their refusal to work overtime, weekends and holidays.

    Dock workers' unions have come out to say that they are not stopping their protests against the privatization drive, which by the way has been approved by parliament and already past the tender stage.

    Local reports are confident that April will see further delays in cargo handling at the key ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki.

    if cost is not an issue, you could air freight your furniture, or truck it all the way or to the nearest reliable port (relatively) like Izmir in Turkey.
