This is my first question, So I hope to get it answered,

When buying fuel offshore MGO comes in various colors, Most of my work/buying of fuel is in indonesia, so pertamina. But Indonesia is known for mixing their fuels with other liquids. I have bought MGO and has varied from a dark brown to a light yellow.

Is there really any I could do with the samples of fuel from I get form the bunkering agent's barge before I transfer the fuel?

I hope to get this answered because it would save me a lot of money and headaches.

    Regards,

    Joe Baicy

joseph, the color of the fuel is the mark of the product, example marine diesel oil(IDO) usually dark brown is different from automotive diesel oil (HSD) usually light yellow , it varies from supplier and country. to be really sure you are getting the right fuel that you paid for, verify the specification given to you by the supplier from the soft offer(it is one of the attachments in the soft offer). also check the color guide from the main supplier like example, pertamina or petronas, be guided because you are buying from their sales agent and the price of the two products are different.
