    Dear Mr.Moreno,

Fuel Oil No.6 is a designation by ASTM for residual heavy fuels. Primarily this oil is used with boilers and testing requirement under ASTM are limited. This same fuel maybe used for marine diesel engines in which case it has to undergo much more rigourous testing under ISO 8217 in order to be considered as a bunker fuel. Under ISO 8217 you can detect mixing of automotive waste lube oil if the fuel contains 15ppm Phosphorous + 15ppm Zinc + 30 ppm Calcium. Waste automotive lube oil is one of the main conteminants. There is no fixed chemical composition since residual fuels from different parts of the world have different properties.

    Best regards,

    Dr. Vis

    Dear Dr Vis,
I am trying to obtain some properties of the Fuel oil 6, Bunker C, but I can't find it anywhere.
I need some chemical properties as the contents of: C, H2, O2, N2, S2 (considering dry base); and the PCI(Lower Calorific Potential - as fired).
I was able to find Density, Viscosity but not those chemical contents.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards
    Carolina
