    Hello
On one of our ships we had some quantity of Alumina trangressed into bunker tank thru a hole in air vent pipe. Please let me know if this has any harmful effect on fuel or can we safely use the bunker oil. FYI we are using RME 180 on the said vessel.

    Thanks

If the fuel is contaminated by Alumina then it will show up in in the spectroscopic analysis as a high Al value. High Al passing through the engine has the potential to cause major damage

However, if you are testing the fuel to find the level of contamination, if the contamination is restricted to a certain area of the tank and if this is not drawn by the transfer pump it may not reflect in the test.
