Data Researcher
About the role

Due to expansion in our maritime activities we have a vacancy for a Data Researcher to be based in our Singapore office. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining information for our maritime databases from specified Far Eastern countries, ensuring efficiency and accuracy to meet customer and internal standards. A key component of this role is the ability to liaise with Mandarin speakers in order to research and build up contacts inside the far eastern geographic market.

Key Responsibilities
• To work under direction from the Head Office in the UK to obtain specified maritime related data in the Far East utilising local time zones and language advantages.
• Communicate with external organisations to obtain verified data and forward for updating of the system in the UK.
• Scrutinise a variety of local publications and other regional information sources and extract and forward relevant data.
• Act as the key contact for ad hoc data enquiries from the UK Head Office.
• Build a useful network of contacts.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
• Good standard of written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese
• Good communication skills, especially via telephone
• Able to work on own initiative within agreed directives
• Able to produce high volumes of work to deadlines and with accuracy
• Demonstrable problem solving and research skills.

Desirable Qualifications
Minimum GCE 'A' Level or Diploma. Preferably with shipping or maritime experience.
